Our Story: Built on Art, Love, and a Beautiful Legacy
Welcome to Marsh's Embroidery! We are a boutique, artist-driven embroidery studio based out of Peoria, Arizona, run by partners Bryan and Dexter.
Our business sits at the perfect intersection of two completely different worlds: the precise, technical mind of a scientist and the boundless, soulful eye of a true creator.
👥 Meet the Team
Bryan (The Artist): Born and raised right here in Arizona, Bryan has a professional background in ABA therapy, but his true language has always been art. Whether constructing custom jewelry, painting, or sculpting, Bryan sees the world with a rare, creative depth. He is the quiet, humble heartbeat behind every stitch we run.
Dexter (The Blueprint): Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Dexter brings the technical and business precision to our studio. With a background in biochemistry and working full-time as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Dexter manages the software digitizing setups, logistics, and operations that keep our machines running flawlessly.
We’ve been walking through life together since 2018, but the story of how our embroidery studio came to be is a miracle years in the making.
🕊️ The Gift of Gloria Marsh
In 2021, Dexter’s grandmother, Gloria Marsh, passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Gloria was a beautifully kind, selfless woman who spent her life putting everyone else first. She was also a master seamstress. Her home featured a massive sewing room packed with miles of vibrant thread, beautiful fabrics, and heavy-duty machines.
Before she passed, Gloria had the chance to meet Bryan and learned that Dexter was exploring the world of e-commerce. In her final act of love, she left her sewing equipment, fabrics, and threads to Bryan and Dexter.
For years, those materials sat quietly in our garage. We preserved them, but we didn’t yet understand the full weight of what she had given us.
💡 Hardship Turning into Hidden Passion
A few years later, life threw us a curveball. Bryan unexpectedly lost his job in the therapy field. As the months dragged on and the job search yielded no success, stress began to mount. Dexter stepped up his hours in the medical lab to keep us afloat, but we knew we needed a breakthrough.
What Dexter didn't know was that over the previous year, Bryan had quietly, meticulously taught himself how to use Gloria’s old sewing machine in his spare time—crafting beautiful, secret embroidered gifts for family and friends.
Seeing Bryan's undeniable eye for design, Dexter asked a simple question: "Have you ever considered starting your own embroidery business?"
Bryan, being naturally humble and shy, laughed it off. But the seed was planted. A few days later, Bryan asked what a business like that would even look like. Dexter's answer was simple: "The only important thing is that you get started, so people can finally experience your art."
✨ Destiny in the Details
Bryan put a tiny, inexpensive ad online offering custom embroidery for just a few dollars. To our absolute shock, the internet responded. Orders began pouring in faster than Bryan’s single machine could handle.
Realizing we needed a serious commercial upgrade, we went out to research heavy-duty multi-needle machines. It was only then, with new eyes, that we went back into our storage to look closely at what Grandmother Gloria had actually left us.
Tucked away in the boxes was an expensive, top-of-the-line, practically brand-new embroidery machine with every single professional attachment, frame, and accessory needed to run a commercial shop. While most startup businesses have to take out massive bank loans just to purchase their equipment, Gloria had already provided ours years in advance.
Our gratitude was, and remains, absolutely boundless. We immediately named our studio Marsh's Embroidery because without Gloria Marsh, Bryan’s hidden passion would still be locked away in a garage.
🧵 Our Philosophy
We don't mass-produce items on a cold assembly line. Bryan pours his entire soul into every design, hand-hooping each garment and mapping out every single thread color. In fact, as a true artist, Bryan frequently gets so attached to the pieces he creates that he jokes about not wanting to ship them away!
